Hello... my Dad was Eugene Kane (CPL, Retired) and served in Korea from late 1951 until May of 1952 when he was seriously injured during the battle for Hill 104. For his heroic actions that day he was awarded the Silver Star. On his DD-214, however, the Silver Star isn't listed under awards and medals. We think this may be because he received it while still in the hospital in Brooklyn, NY while he was recovering from his wounds. He opted for a small bedside ceremony versus a large award ceremony. He passed away yesterday after several months in a VA hospital. The staff there told us we needed to get his DD-214 corrected before we have his cremains interred in Arlington. I've found the form to fill out (DD-149) and have started doing so. We're sending a photocopy of the Citation as well as a picture of the medal with the Citation. We also found a couple of sites on the internet that list my father as a Silver Star recipient and are including those. Is there anything else someone can recommend we do to make sure the request gets approved?

Your help and advice would be greatly appreciated.
