History Of Suicide Charley

On 24 October 1942, the 1st Marine Division was occupying a defensive position around Henderson Field on Guadalcanal. The 1st Battalion 7th Marines, commanded by LtCol Lewis B “Chesty” Puller helped form this line.

The pictures are of the 1/7 corpsmen circa 1966.  The picture was taken on hill 55 on the Battalion side of the hill.  It's unusual that we would all be together like that.  It may have been when we moved from Chu Lai to DaNang.
